Bassendean Skate Park

Construction of the Town’s brand new concrete skate park is now complete. There has already been an overwhelmingly positive response both from users of the facility and general community members alike. The skate park which is located at Steel Blue Oval on the corner of Guildford and West Roads in Bassendean has already been attracting – and promises to continue to do so for many years to come – large numbers of skate boarders, roller bladers and bike riders. The Bassendean Skate Reference Group, together with members of the Bassendean Youth Advisory Council assisted the contractor, Convic Skate Parks, with the design process. Convic took around four weeks to construct the park which the Town of Bassendean co-funded with the Department of Sport and Recreation. Photos of the skate park under construction can be viewed via the Bassendean Youth Services website www.bys.net.au Better still, why not head down to this fantastic new Council facility and check it out for real! The official opening of the skate park will take place at the ‘GRAVIT8 2007’ youth event scheduled for Friday 9th November and is to coincide with Bassendean Youth Services being relocated back to the MacDonald Pavilion.
