WHAT IS THE BASSENDEAN YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL?

The Bassendean Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of young people who meet monthly to discuss issues that affect young people. The YAC also assists in organising events for young people.

Youth Advisory Councils help ensure that young people have a voice on issues which affect them. If you have an issue that you want raised you can talk to the Youth Development Officer on 9279 2329.

WHAT HAS THE BASSENDEAN YAC DONE?

The Bassendean YAC has been responsible for organising a large number of events for young people over many years. Some of these include:

• Gravit8 2007

• Slick 2006

• Gravit8 2006

• 2005 Bassendean Fair and Expo
• Waterwerx Jan 2005
• Bassendean Youth Services Open Day 2005
• Junglemania 2004
• Friday Festivals 2004

The Bassendean YAC has been heavily consulted on the planning and construction of the Town’s Integrated Youth Facility. It has also given feedback to Local, State and Federal Governments on issues affecting young people including local skateboarding issues, the National Novice Driver Review and the National Drugs campaign.
